Apple cider vinegar

Netflix loves a wellness grift.

You just need a moody narrator, some candle-lit interviews, and a dramatic synth soundtrack. Frame Big Pharma as the villain (again, not wrong), cast yourself as the misunderstood genius, and let the pseudoscience flow like raw kombucha. Bonus points if you cry on camera while holding a mason jar of vinegar water.

I have loved watching Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix. The beachy aesthetic, the wellness viewpoint and the healthy lifestyle angle. Unfortunately we are seeing more and more people use this way of life to hide their bad behaviour.

Have you heard the term virtue signalling. This is where a person uses their position or job etc to get away with poor values, morals and ethics.

It’s something I have noticed more and more of in my work as a psychotherapist. One of the areas I specialise in is narcissistic abuse. Narcissists will often choose a career or “vocation”  to benefit their virtue signalling. This means they can get away with an awful lot, as most people won’t/don’t want to believe that they are capable of such immoral behaviours.

When you are choosing a healer to work with, always check their qualifications and accreditations with the relevant associations to make sure you are covered if  you need to speak out about any concerns you may have of them as a practitioner.
